Position Overview

  1. Understand and follow directions given by lead
  2. Communicate with lead to understand which jobs need to be worked on and the priorities of those jobs
  3. Set up machines with no supervision
  4. Safely weld variety of parts
  5. Grind, buff, and finish parts to meet quality requirements
  6. Complete workorders on time as per the labor standards
  7. Store finished parts in appropriate locations and inform the responsible person to process them
  8. Ensure that all parts that you have worked on are tagged with the proper part numbers

Perform other duties as assigned

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Knowledge of metallurgy
  • Knowledge of various welding techniques, including TIG, MIG, arc, and oxy-fuel welding
  • Knowledge of manual and mechanical welding techniques

Skills and Experience

1. Ability to operate all welding equipment

2. Ability to lift 30-40 lbs. and maneuver 50 lbs.

3. Ability to keep an accurate count of finished parts

4. Ability to follow written and oral instructions

6. Effective communication skills

7. Ability to properly space number of welds to meet varying conditions of materials to assure proper fusing, strength and finish and to avoid distortion and burning

8. Ability to regulate spot welding machines to proper time, current, and pressure settings with no supervision

9. Ability to identify proper welding tips

10. Able to read blueprints and workorders

11. Experienced with the use of various welding gases including argon and CO2 mix

12. Must have the ability to fully understand directives/instruction and effectively communicate matters concerning safety, quality and productivity

  • Graduation from high school, military schools, vocational school, recognized craftsman apprenticeship program or equivalent
  • At least five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in a combination of two or more skilled trades including knowledge of and ability to use tools materials and methods
  • Current welding certifications (Recently expired certifications may be acceptable contingent upon the ability to successfully requalify prior to employment.)
  • OSHA 10-hour safety course would be a plus
