Position Overview
Will lead the daily activities of the Inventory Control group and is responsible for coordinating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; mentoring and counseling; initiating, coordinating, and implementing systems, policies, and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Administer a thorough Cycle Counting and Corrective Actions regime throughout the plant.
- Manage the annual Physical Inventory process.
- Develop and administer a “plan for every part”.
- Supervise the flow of materials through the manufacturing processes.
- Develop Priority Planning and Dispatching capabilities to ensure that the right combination of materials is available at the right time.
- Connect with all departments on any inventory discrepancies or issues.
- Investigate the root cause for all inventory problems and reconcile them.
- Forward requests to Inventory Control Coordinator to have counts corrected in the system to maintain accurate Inventory levels.
- Approve timecards on a weekly basis.
- Embrace and always encourage 5S philosophy and achieve continual improvement in your work area.
- Make vital suggestions to improve safety, quality, productivity, schedule performance, 5S, and utilization of equipment and manpower
- Maintain working relationship with the union as defined by the collective bargaining agreement.
Skills and Experience
- Associates degree required; Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain or Operations is helpful
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in Inventory Control, preferably in a supervisory role in a manufacturing plant environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of Receiving/Shipping practices
- Experience working in a Lean Manufacturing environment a plus.
- Good overall understanding of ERP systems; SAP strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Project).
Abilities:
- Ability to lift 25 lbs.
- Ability to maneuver 50 lbs.
