Job Overview

Performs a variety of payroll, and pension related duties in accordance with internal and government procedures and principles.  Works closely with Human Resources on various employees’ relating activities for hiring/termination/Benefits etc.  &  Willis Towers Watson, RBC Dexia Investors on pension requirements.  Provides administrative support to Director of Finance and to Finance Dept.  Requires a high degree of accuracy and exposure to confidential information.  Must maintain knowledge of current payroll legislation.

Requires a high degree of independence, organization and pro-activeness to ensure office/admin functions are operating as desired.

A Day In The Life

Responsible for: 

  1. Ensuring all deadlines & deliverables are met
  2. Maintain & submit hourly & salary payroll in accordance w/Hubbell Canada and statutory requirements 
  3. Maintain & submit hourly & salary payroll in accordance w/REF Automation and statutory requirements
  4. Maintain & submit salary payroll payroll in accordance w/Multiwave Sensors and statutory requirements  
  5. Reconcile all payrolls & prepare required remittances and adjusting entries
  6. Calculating hourly vacation pay & reconciles to accrual account
  7. Provide support for hourly & salary DB/DC Pension//Flex/RRSP/Retirement Savings Plans
  8. Provide administrative assistance to Director and Finance Dept. 
  9. Assist in month end report filing, maintains filing system and reconciliations for legal and accounting fees.
  10. Reconciles Charitable contributions for Hubbell Canada
  11. Backup to other accounting functions as required 
  12. Perform other ad hoc requests as assigned

What will help you thrive in this role?

  1. University graduate or equivalent. (Business or Finance)
  2. Minimum 3-5 years business related experience
  3. Member of Payroll Institute preferred (PCP -Payroll Compliance Professional)
  4. In-depth knowledge of payroll functions and legislation.
  5. Advanced knowledge of MS Office Applications and ADP payroll system
  6. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  7. Analytical Skills:  Strong reconciliation and analysis capabilities
  8. Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with employees
