Job Overview

As a key member of the senior management team, the Director of Sales is responsible for leading the sales organization and driving revenue growth. This role develops and executes sales strategies, oversees sales operations, mentors the sales team, and contributes to the achievement of company sales objectives.

The Director of Sales brings strong knowledge of the company’s capabilities across its core and vertical markets, as well as emerging product development opportunities. This role also requires a solid understanding of electrical distributor and retail channel relationships, along with competitor strengths and weaknesses.

Aligned with the business unit’s operating and strategic plans, the Director of Sales translates market and product knowledge into effective sales tactics for channel partners, end users, and specifiers. The role supports a broad portfolio of product solutions, including wiring products, connectors, grounding and tooling, harsh and hazardous products, electrical rough-in, and datacom and telecom solutions, serving industrial, commercial, institutional, utility, datacom, and telecom markets.

A Day In The Life

Every day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by:

    • Develop and execute sales strategies aligned with company objectives and revenue targets.
    • Identify market opportunities, set sales goals and KPIs, and implement plans to improve sales productivity and exceed targets.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, channel partners, and stakeholders to support growth and customer satisfaction.
    • Analyze sales performance, market trends, and competitor activity to identify improvement opportunities and inform business decisions.
    • Implement and maintain effective sales processes, tools, and Salesforce CRM practices to track opportunities, improve efficiency, and support forecasting.
    • Provide regular reports, forecasts, presentations, and recommendations to senior management based on sales and market analysis.
    • Manage the department budget and contribute to strategic planning to ensure effective resource allocation and strong return on investment.
    • Lead time and territory management efforts by ensuring consistent customer contact, targeted account coverage, and ongoing development of direct reports.
    • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers and internal teams through timely verbal, written, and digital communications.
    • Maintain a professional presence and ensure timely completion of sales call reports, expense reports, forecast requests, and other required documentation.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred but not required
  • 10+ years of experience in field sales and sales leadership; electrical industry experience preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 60% of the time.
  • Valid passport, or ability to obtain one, with availability for travel primarily within the U.S. and occasionally internationally.
  • Strong experience in contract preparation and channel sales development.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a sales team effectively.
  • Demonstrated success in building, developing, and motivating high-performing teams.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • High degree of organization, discipline, self-motivation, and accountability.
  • Experience working with financial reports, forecasting, and performance metrics.
