Job Overview
As the Cost / Inventory Analyst in our Pickering facility, you are responsible for accurate accounting and reporting of inventory balances and transactions included on the Balance Sheet and Income Statement. Performing inventory reconciliations and analysis to ensure procedures are being followed and inventory transactions are being appropriately recorded and communicated. You will work closely with Finance, Operations and Sales departments on inventory, costing and customs issues. You will also work with U.S. personnel on costing and invoicing issues. The role involves exposure to proprietary information and requires a high degree of accuracy, efficiency and the ability to research, follow-up and communicate issues with moderate supervision..
A Day In The Life
- Update, review & maintain product costs to ensure accuracy
- Manage annual physical inventory including subcontractors
- Compliance w/internal & SOX controls during process
- Internal audits & annual controllership reviews - policies & procedures are complied with
- Quarterly cycle count package for internal audit
- Standard cost vs last price paid for Business Development dept
- Process annual standard cost roll & analysis and all relevant activities required
- Perform quarter end cutoff activities
- Prepare intercompany & balance sheet reconciliations & journal entries in Blackline
- Update monthly plant performance indicators
- Manage inventory cycle count program & maintain accuracy - coordinate audit every 3 years maintaining certification
- Prepare monthly forecasts/annual plan of manufacturing expenses & product/earned hours - explain actuals vs forecast
- Quarterly warranty and E&O analysis & related adjustments to liabilities
- Prepare inventory summary reports, labour & burden reports, conversion rates monthly
- Analysis of inventory adjustments & blocked inventory
- Broker invoices coded correctly & submitted to AP timely
- Summarize daily Canada Border Services Agency notification reports
- Work w/Customs Broker to ensure account reconciliation w/CBSA is completed & remittance is prepared to CBSA on time
- Projects & other duties as assigned
What will help you thrive in this role?
- Minimum five years business experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment. Cost accounting experience required.
- Experience with SAP or other ERP system is an asset.
- Completion of or Enrollment in CPA program is an asset
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Computer Skills: Knowledge of SAP or other ERP inventory and costing. Must have strong Microsoft Office, e-mail and other PC application skills.
- Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Able to work under pressure and deliver and able to juggle with conflicting priorities; Works well in group problem solving situations;. Works well with minimum supervision.
- Project Management: Develops project plans; Coordinates projects; Communicates changes and progress; Completes projects on time and budget; Manages project team activities
