The Saw Operator Lead is responsible for overseeing saw operations and guiding a team of operators to ensure efficient, accurate, and safe fabrication of metal components. This role combines technical expertise with leadership skills to coordinate workflow, provide training, and maintain high-quality standards.

A Day In The Life

Every day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by:

  • Leading and supporting saw operators in daily tasks and troubleshooting.
  • Operating saws and other cutting equipment to fabricate metal components according to specifications.
  • Performing advanced setups and assisting with programming for automated cutting processes.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings to ensure accuracy.
  • Coordinating schedules and assigning tasks to meet production goals.
  • Conducting quality checks on finished products and implementing corrective actions when needed.
  • Providing ongoing training to team members on best practices, safety standards, and new technologies.
  • Performing routine maintenance on saws and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area in compliance with safety guidelines.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives for efficiency and quality.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required); certificate or diploma in engineering or relevant discipline preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Saw Operator or in a similar machining role.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in operating various saws and fabrication equipment.
  • Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication techniques and processes.
  • Experience with hand tools, press brake machines, lathes, plasma cutting, or laser cutting.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
  • Excellent communication and team leadership abilities.
  • Good problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Commitment to workplace safety practices.
