Job Overview
The Maintenance Journeyman is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining critical manufacturing systems, including AC & DC motors, PLCs, and power distribution networks. This role requires a minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, along with an associate’s degree or equivalent technical qualification.
A Day In The Life
Every day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by:
- Troubleshooting and repairing AC & DC motors and control circuits.
- Reading and interpreting electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and instrumentation drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing PLC and/or DCS hardware, software, and controls.
- Maintaining 480/240 Volt 3-phase MCC and power distribution systems.
- Replacing electrical control devices such as limit switches, proximity sensors, photo switches, and pneumatic/hydraulic valves.
- Moving and setting up equipment as needed.
- Wiring equipment and electrical drops in high-voltage areas.
- Installing and repairing electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic industrial equipment.
What will help you thrive in this role?
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Education: Associate degree, trade or technical school diploma, and/or journeyman’s card in a related trade.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and work with decimals and fractions.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for equipment operation issues.
- Communication Skills: Proficient in English for written and verbal communication; ability to read and interpret technical documents.
- Computer Skills: Basic proficiency in managing work orders and interacting with maintenance systems.
- Tools & Equipment: Familiarity with measuring devices (tape measures, micrometers, calipers) preferred; ability to use hand tools, power tools, hoists, cranes, alignment equipment, and testing instruments.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work overtime and irregular hours during emergencies.
- Independence & Detail Orientation: Ability to work independently with precision and accuracy.
- Resourcefulness: Ability to research and requisition parts using catalogs and vendor contacts.
- Attendance: Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per posted schedule is essential.
