Job Overview

The SAP Systems Analyst – Production Planning plays a lead role in designing, developing, and implementing efficient business systems that support core manufacturing and planning functions across Hubbell. This role is responsible for ensuring the successful deployment of SAP manufacturing solutions—including MRP, Production Planning (PP), MES, and PLM—in alignment with Hubbell’s configuration standards, business processes, and enterprise architecture.

In this role, the analyst collaborates closely with IT peers, Hubbell Global Operations, business stakeholders, and external implementation partners to deliver scalable, standardized solutions that meet business needs. Responsibilities include gathering and analyzing requirements, supporting business cases and project proposals, and translating business needs into effective system designs.

The analyst also produces detailed analyses and documentation to identify root causes of system issues and recommends actionable solutions. Success in this role requires strong communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills, along with the ability to lead cross‑functional discussions and influence outcomes to maximize the value of Hubbell’s SAP investments.

A Day In The Life

  • Lead design and fit‑gap sessions to improve business processes, operational workflows, and information flow.
  • Assess and document requirements for each in‑scope manufacturing location by engaging decision‑makers, system owners, and end users to define business needs and system objectives.
  • Collaborate with IT peers, Global Operations leadership, and implementation partners to determine and recommend appropriate SAP manufacturing solutions.
  • Play a lead role in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications and enhancements to existing systems.
  • Develop and present system design proposals and solution options to technical and business stakeholders.
  • Document functional and technical specifications for selected solutions, integrations, and enhancements.
  • Define scope, assumptions, success criteria, and outcome metrics for systems analysis and solution delivery.
  • Identify and document hardware requirements (e.g., RF devices, printers) for each in‑scope manufacturing site.
  • Manage configuration activities and support related hardware procurement efforts.
  • Conduct regular configuration and design review meetings to ensure adherence to Hubbell standards and support tollgate governance.
  • Ensure compliance with Hubbell’s Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), IT controls, and audit requirements.
  • Support on‑site and remote testing, training, cutover, and hypercare activities.
  • Lead manufacturing‑domain project closure activities, including documentation and knowledge transfer.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation required for internal and external audits.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to project, design, and governance meetings.

Explore Phase Project Responsibilities

  • Leads initial project setup activities during the Explore phase, including establishment of required project governance and delivery tools.
  • Partner with Infrastructure and Network teams to ensure sites are prepared for Hubbell network standards and SAP connectivity requirements prior to implementation
  • Assess site readiness and forecast potential system integrations, dependencies, and technical constraints
  • Develop and document a preliminary overview of System Architecture
  • Identify scope boundaries, functional gaps, and risks across in‑scope domains and document mitigation strategies
  • Identify potential Power BI reporting needs, data sources, and analytics requirements to support business and operational visibility
  • Identify and estimate resource requirements for AFE planning, including:
    • SAP functional leads
    • Data migration resources
    • Development resources (ABAP, integrations, reporting)
  • Support creation of the project charter, including objectives, scope assumptions, constraints, and success criteria
  • Initiate high‑level project planning, including:
    • Identification of required FIT sessions by scope and functional area
    • Alignment on sequencing and dependencies across domains
    • Early engagement planning for business stakeholders and IT teams
  • Collaborate with program leadership to ensure Explore‑phase outputs align with Hubbell governance, tollgate expectations, and downstream implementation planning

Skills and Experience

 

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in SAP implementations, with a strong focus on planning and manufacturing functions.

Required experience includes:

  • SAP MRP, ATP, BOM and routing development, serial number tracking, repetitive manufacturing, and batch management
  • Deep functional and technical expertise in SAP MRP and Production Planning (PP)
  • Experience implementing and integrating MES and PLM solutions
  • Proven success delivering end‑to‑end solutions, including requirements gathering, design, configuration, testing, training, and post‑go‑live support
  • Experience working with and managing third‑party implementation partners in complex project environments
  • Experience deploying and supporting SAP Fiori applications (preferred)

Technical Competencies

The successful candidate should have full command of the following methodologies and tools

  • Microsoft Office 365 and Teams
  • Microsoft Azure DevOps

Education

  • Must be able to work U.S. EST working hours with occasional evening and weekend work

  • Must be able to travel within the U.S. and internationally up to 50%
