Job Overview
Hubbell is seeking an Engineering Manager - Additive Manufacturing, to lead a team of talented engineers in delivering high-impact, scalable solutions. This role requires a balance of technical leadership, people management, and project management to ensure the team delivers high-quality additively manufactured parts that meet business needs. The ideal candidate will have experience managing the day-to-day activities of engineers focused on the design, application development, and production of additively manufactured parts. We are driving scaled production utilizing additive manufacturing and so this role should focus more on driving production over R&D and prototyping. A Day In The Life
- Help define product requirements, specifications, timelines, and budget constraints and ensure they are aligned across all project stakeholders. Ensure engineers remain in scope and adhere to these requirements.Ensure engineering solutions are appropriately scoped and aligned with business needs, avoiding unnecessary complexity or over-engineering at any point within the product development process.
- Act as a technical authority, guiding teams through complex engineering decisions and fostering a culture of thoughtful, peer-reviewed design.
- Ensure that all major technical decisions are reviewed and vetted through structured design review processes. Review and approve critical engineering drawings in collaboration with team members.
- Ensure the team adheres to Hubbell’s product development process and lead the completion of documentation requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, vendors, and contractors and ensure they all stay aligned on timelines and deliverables.
- Continuously communicate with the engineering teams of our internal customers to ensure project alignment and customer satisfaction.
- Be the primary representative of the engineering team and work closely and collaboratively with the operations and program management leadership.
- Collaborate with leadership on resource planning, ensuring the right team structure and skill sets are in place to meet business objectives. Continuously assess team structure and capabilities, adjusting to optimize for efficiency, scalability, and career growth opportunities.
- Lead and prioritize the daily activities of the AMX Engineering team.
What will help you thrive in this role?
- B.S. in Mechanical, Materials, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering (or similar).
- 3-5+ years managing a team of engineers in a production environment.
- Familiarity with additive manufacturing and industrial grade 3D printing equipment and processes preferred.
- Proven experience in leading diverse teams, including managing high-stress or high-conflict situations.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and motivate individuals with varying personalities and work styles.
- Proficient with 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD LT, Inventor, or SolidWorks.
- Experience leading applications development and working with internal and external customers to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Experience in an entrepreneurial environment is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Project management training and/or experience is a plus.
- Adaptable, results-oriented, comfortable with uncertainty, and effective at managing change.
- Able to move quickly on a variety of projects while still adhering to process.
