Job Overview

Hubbell is seeking a highly motivated Additive Manufacturing Engineer with QA/QC experience to join our new and growing team. As an early member of the Hubbell Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence (AM CoE) in Wilmington, MA, you will be responsible for building our QA/QC program for production parts, operating multiple pieces of additive manufacturing equipment as needed, and ensuring high-quality output and innovative solutions for our manufacturing processes. We are an entrepreneurial team building a new manufacturing facility and as such everyone is expected to wear multiple hats and help wherever is needed.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in additive manufacturing, operating production-scale printers, ancillary equipment, and quality equipment. We are looking for someone who excels in a dynamic role, effectively balancing multiple responsibilities across different areas including equipment operation, quality control, and process engineering.

You will utilize your experience to drive repeatable and reliable production-scale manufacturing of additively manufactured parts and will be instrumental in advancing our in-house production capabilities. You will initially be an individual contributor, but as the facility grows there will be the opportunity to grow with the organization and provide mentoring and leadership as needed to new team members.

A Day In The Life

  • Ensure that production prints are completed to meet customer requirements and deadlines.
  • Develop and execute test plans to validate new processes, materials, and equipment.
  • Keep meticulous records of product and process quality metrics.
  • Analyze and interpret data from manufacturing processes to identify trends, optimize performance, and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to additive manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Document and maintain process parameters, standard operating procedures, and work instructions for additive manufacturing operations.
  • Stay current with advancements in additive manufacturing technologies and materials to continuously improve processes and capabilities.
  • Must be willing and able to wear the necessary PPE with reasonable accommodation for part of the workday. PPE may include respirators and/or PAPR (powered air purifying respirator), Tyvek suits, gloves, goggles and booties.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • B.S. (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar.
  • Familiarity with industrial-scale additive manufacturing systems in a production environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with quality assurance and control methods for additive manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Adaptable, results-oriented, comfortable with uncertainty, and effective at managing change. Experience working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment is a plus.
  • Able to move quickly on a variety of projects while still adhering to process.
