Job Overview

Under the direction of Production Supervisor, accurately prepares customer orders for shipping meeting customer delivery requirements. Responsible for deliveries, verifying shipment records, accepting shipments and distributing materials and parts coming into the company. Capabilities to support the coverage for the Production Supervisor vacation, out of office, and meetings. #LI-TB1

A Day In The Life

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

Shipping:

  • Pick orders from stock or from staging area.
  • Prepare product for shipping to customers.
  • Ensure customer order and product match; box, crate, shrink-wrap as necessary.
  • Contact common carriers and schedule pick-ups for LTL loads. Quote full and partial truck loads to ensure the meeting of customer delivery requirements.
  • Inspect materials and ensure bills of lading are correct.
  • Verify the quantity and quality of material received from production.
  • Pull materials from storage and deliver to production as needed.
  • Affix completed address label and any other special labels required for the handling of material and specified by the carrier.
  • Complete and maintain all required paperwork.
  • Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Work closely with material handlers for proper loading of trucks.

Receiving:

  • Opens shipments, confirms that product quality and quantity are per the purchase order.
  • Delivers product to the proper inventory location, department or personnel.
  • Changes inventory locations when necessary.
  • Works with Purchasing or vendors to resolve product concerns.
  •  Directs or stages customer supplied equipment in appropriate areas.
  •  Arranges for removal of company’s scrap material.
  • Works closely with material handlers for proper unloading of trucks, parts storage and order picking.
  •  Responsible for parts cycle counting and yearly inventory activities.

What will help you thrive in this role?

Education and/or Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent, plus some specialized training.

• 2 years of relevant shipping / receiving experience.

• Mathematical skills that include the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide and perform metric conversions.

• Satisfactory oral and written communication skills to interact with employees.

• Must be able to read and understand blueprints and warehouse paperwork.

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications, Excel and Word. SAP computer skills helpful.

• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instruction and manage problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.  

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls; reach above shoulders; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and chemicals. The employee occasionally works near moving machinery and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
