Job Overview

This Engineering Manager will work in the Power Quality Solutions (PQS) division of Hubbell, producing a wide range of dry type transformers up to 1250 KVA. The Engineering Manager and their team are responsible for new product development by taking customer requirements and converting to cost effective product designs. The Engineering Manager is also responsible for ensuring Engineering processes are documented and implemented while tracking defined metrics. In addition, the Engineering Manager will work closely with the Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Purchasing and Sales personnel, ensuring development schedules meet customer timelines. In addition, the Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and managing the engineers in the team. They will motivate the team to do their best work, helping them feel valued and supported. 

A Day In The Life

  • Provide technical and project management leadership for the ACME transformer design engineering team
    • Review new product designs and cost estimates.
    • Meet and work with customers and vendors as needed
  • Supervise mechanical and electrical design team including:
    • Conduct weekly Team meetings to discuss team’s tasks and progress.
    • Determine resource capacity and allocation.
    • Assign specific tasks and projects.
    • Develop timelines for tasks and projects.
    • Monitor and document progress on tasks and projects. Work with teams to ensure alignment and timely fulfillment of tasks.
    • Remove impediments or roadblocks to allow timely completion of tasks
  • Project management
    • Maintain project tracker and conduct weekly meetings to review status and drive completion
    • Review new projects with Management to determine Go/No Go.
  • Review and approve Engineering department expenditures.

  • Candidate must be self-motivated with a proven track record of leadership
  • Comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base with unique standard and custom products
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Education: BS in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering. MS preferred.
  • 10+ years related senior level design and engineering experience with electro–mechanical products. Transformer experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated managerial and/or team leadership experience.
  • Strong team leadership skills, project management skills, interpersonal and facilitation skills.
  • Experience with transformer or related manufacturing and processes
  • Knowledge of UL, CSA, DOE and other applicable industry standards
  • Additional Desired Skills:
    • Familiarity with REACH, RoHS, and Prop65 regulations

    • Fluent with SAP or similar ERP systems

    • Proficient with AutoCAD® and AutoCAD® Inventor or Solidworks® softwar
