Job Overview

The Production Coordinator performs clerical duties to support the production department. This role is responsible for upkeep of departmental data, organization of records, and files documentation. The Production Coordinator may review requisitions, give estimates of shipment, prepare schedules, and/or follows entire production cycle from start to finish.

A Day In The Life

  • Prioritize, schedule, and delegate work assignments.
  • Review the master schedule for upcoming assigned product line requirements. Develop the schedule of production for assigned product lines to ensure on time customer delivery. Advise the Plant Manager as to increases or decreases in production plans.
  • Review the availability of manufactured and purchase parts for the assigned product lines.
  • Acquire shop orders, purchase order due dates and manufactured parts build dates.
  • Expedite any needed manufactured or purchase parts, contacting vendors or purchasing as needed, to ensure availability in line with production schedules.
  • Issue any required production orders in support of assigned product lines.
  • Act as technical resource to purchasing, manufacturing, and other departments to coordinate efforts and to address and resolve inquiries and problems.
  • Follow up to ensure assigned product lines are completed according to customer and MRP requirements.
  • Adjust production schedules as needed based on part availability and customer demands.
  • May maintain awareness and follow-up on back order repair requirements.  May follow-up to ensure parts are shipped.
  • Attend and actively participate in all scheduled meetings.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Requires four years of high school and 1-3 years of progressively responsible related experience; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of industry market and conditions
  • Proficiency in relevant systems and software (Excel required)
