Position Overview

The Sr. Automation Specialist is a subject matter expert (SME) in industrial automation systems.  They will help lead Hubbell businesses with the development and procurement of appropriate automation solutions for a wide variety of different manufacturing processes.  Their role is to guide, lead and manage various teams of Hubbell personnel to develop concepts for custom automation projects and help lead the teams from the idea stage to the final concept stage.  Their experience in the custom automation field allows them to provide a wide perspective to various solutions and to help the teams uncover major breakthroughs.  Their contributions will lead to higher success rates, greater impacts and reduced risk.   

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Guide and lead Hubbell automation teams with their higher cost/risk projects.
  • Propose feasible concepts to automation challenges.
  • Ability to see risky concepts and propose solutions to maximize impact and minimize risk.
  • Ability to “make order” (i.e. see solutions) out of complicated automation problems.
  • Organize projects such that feasible solutions can be applied to get positive results.
  • Develop and review specifications for projects.
  • Able to create and give presentations to Hubbell teams and executives.
  • Mentor and develop Hubbell automation team members.
  • Other responsibilities as required by Supervisor

Skills and Experience


•    Bachelor of Science in Engineering 
•    10+ years of relevant experience with automation design and/or procurement 
•    Experience with a wide range of automation systems and automation components
•    Experience with project management 
•    Strong communication skills to professionally interface with internal and external personnel
•    Strong organization and time management skills
•    Ability to read, interpret, and create a variety of types of mechanical prints and drawings
•    Experience with managing technical employees
•    5+ years experience designing custom automation machinery.
