Job Overview

This role is responsible for Engineer-to-Order (ETO) parts and management of the Burndy product catalog. The position works closely with Manufacturing, Product Management, Design Engineering, Sourcing, and Purchasing to support product development and execution.

The role requires the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications, manage detailed requirements, and coordinate across multiple functions. Strong organizational skills and effective communication are essential.

The position supports a wide network of contacts and maintains knowledge across the full Burndy catalog, rather than focusing on a single product line.


 

A Day In The Life

  • Create and update drawings, design documentation, and material records, including the modernization of legacy catalog parts.
  • Apply a strong understanding of manufacturing processes to ensure designs are producible and cost-effective.
  • Perform business assessments to determine the value and priority of incoming requests.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to build and load bills of material and routing information.
  • Work with Planning to establish order dates and coordinate with Customer Service to address customer inquiries.
  • Partner with the Pricing team to support quotation development for both domestic and international opportunities.
  • Complete engineering change (EC) activities, including reviewing and approving drawings.
  • Creating 3D models and drawings using Autodesk/Inventor
  • Communicate with the Sales team to support customer opportunities and technical needs.
  • Collaborate with the Additive Manufacturing group on 3D metal–printed parts and related initiatives.

 

 

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical preferred but open to General Engineering, or related field (required) 
  • 2-5 years of experience in engineering with a focus on design, development, or project management (required) 
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools required for design, analysis, and implementation (required)
