Job Overview
The Burndy Financial Analyst serves as a key member of the Hubbell finance team, supporting 4 sites within the Burndy US business unit. This role reports to the Connectors Grounding & Tooling (CGT) Director of Finance in Manchester, NH and interfaces regularly with the Burndy Sr. Financial Analyst, Burndy Cost Accountant, Group Controller and Vice President of Finance. The Financial Analyst partners with the finance and operations functions to ensure the delivery of value-added financial analysis and accounting support that leads to accurate and timely financial reporting and decision-making while ensuring that the internal customer requirements are satisfied on a regular basis.
A Day In The Life
- Ensure that financial reporting and related processes are designed and executed in accordance with GAAP and Hubbell’s accounting policies & procedures.
- Support internal and external audits, as well as internal SOX audit activity, and oversee timely remediation of any findings or follow-up items.
- Work with project managers to accurately record capital purchases from preparation of financial justification, acquisition and depreciation through disposal.
- Execute fixed assets physical inventory in accordance with company policy.
- Assist in execution of annual physical inventories.
- Provide support for preparing and loading annual cost center budgets.
- Oversee the monthly preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations using a web-based application (Blackline), as well as variance analysis.
- Reviews and approve purchase requests.
- Oversee intercompany balancing, independently research issues, and work with counterparts in other business units to clear up discrepancies.
- Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly financial reports, such as pricing reports.
- Complete ad hoc financial information requests and various special projects, such as key financial system implementations, as needed.
- Ability to analyze and make assessments of financial statements, internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Identify opportunities to increase the efficiency of the close process through enhancement of existing procedures and utilization of financial systems and tools.
- Ability to work across all levels of an organization and to be able to effectively communicate to influence change.
- Assist in process improvement initiatives.
- Ability to effectively interact with Hubbell stakeholders remotely via video conference using company provided equipment as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field, from a four-year college or university required.
- 5+ Years of finance/accounting, preferably within a global manufacturing company.
- Demonstrated record of success in a variety of progressive finance | accounting roles.
- Project Management experience desired.
- Ability to effectively identify, diagnose and communicate the impact of complex transactions to the company’s leadership team.
- Experience implementing and/or maintaining SOX controls in a publicly traded company environment.
- Understanding of US GAAP, transactional accounting within a manufacturing company model and with a monthly accounting close process.
- Excellent verbal, written communication skills.
- HFM (Hyperion Financial Management), OneStream or other financial consolidation package and SAP experience desired. Knowledge of Power BI is helpful.
- Expert working knowledge of MS Excel (V-lookup, pivot tables) and PowerPoint.
- Proven ability to work well with others in a diverse organization.
- Highly organized with an ability to work well under tight time constraints.
- Self-starter who can work independently and execute projects effectively.
