Job Overview
Produce clear and accurate engineering drawings for Burndy designed products and components. These drawings are used to assist in communicating product functionality, assembly requirements, and purchase specifications to Burndy internal and external customers.
A Day In The Life
Every day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by:
Per Engineer’s general direction, create or revise drawings for electro-mechanical parts and assemblies utilizing Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault CAD software.
Work within Engineering Change (EC) process system in managing change approvals and linking to affected products in production system. Create and manage EC dashboard to support all C&I and FOCUS project EC’s.
Maintain consistency in drawing layout and appearance per Burndy CAD standards to include using ANSI and geometric tolerance standards were applicable.
Creating drawings by planning arrangement of appropriate views, sections, and details as required to best describe part geometry.
Support FOCUS process and become proficient in Engineer To Order (ETO) process
Drafting dimension and tolerance part drawings that may incorporate complex details.
Verifying completed drawings against input requirements prior to submittal to Designer, Engineer or Engineering Manager.
Executing revisions on detail, assembly, and customer drawings, or engineering specification documents.
What will help you thrive in this role?
Associates Degree in related field or currently enrolled in Associates degree program in related field.
One-year advanced study in CAD drafting plus two years ‘specialized’ training - work exposure in the field of drafting
Moderate level of proficiency in use of Autodesk Inventor and Vault software or similar
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Be familiar with ANSI/ASME Y14.5M-1994 practices.
