Job Overview
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in the production of electrical connectors and/or installation tools. Responsible for Production Control Planning for the Light Manufacturing Londonderry Department.
A Day In The Life
• Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations. Supports merit review program and the employee bid process.
• Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
• Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
• Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications as required.
• Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
• Recommends and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product. Eliminates waste and develops cost reductions through tooling modifications, planned maintenance, etc.
• Suggests changes and works with both Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering to improve working conditions, productivity, efficiency, quality and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department or work crew.
• Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
• Develops capital equipment justifications for tools and process technology to improve quality, cost and cycle times.
• Manages non-supervisory employees.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
• Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Coordinates flow of work within and between departments of the manufacturing plant to drive on-time delivery to customers.
• Creates and schedules Production Orders to meet on-time delivery performance goals that align with the capacity of the factory.
• Assemble Production Order packets and verify correct drawings are included.
• Reviews unscheduled customer and inter-company purchase order (ICPO) backlog on a daily basis.
• Assesses backlog and output by process line and briefs results at requisite meetings.
• Resolves material shortages with the purchasing department.
• Responds to Customer Service on lead time requests, expedite requests, and direct shipping requests.
• Collaborates with Manufacturing to kick-start jobs on hold (e.g., resolve problems with job quantity, rejects, missing prints, material shortages).
• Resolves Production Order variances and cost of goods issue (COGI) errors.
• Drafts new Work Instructions, as applicable.
• Effectively collaborates with difficult personalities to overcome obstacles and implement change.
• Communicates with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, etc. as needed to resolve problems on specific Production Orders and address bigger picture issues on output and delivery.
• Actively participates in Production Control meetings & communicates within the department to share pertinent information and set goals.

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Computer Skills: Must have strong Microsoft Office, e-mail and other PC application skills.
- Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
- SAP experience preferred.
- Lean experience preferred.
- Ability to analyze current processes and pro-actively make improvements on a day-to-day basis in addition to collaborating on larger changes within the plant.
- Demonstrated expert level Microsoft Excel skills to crunch backlog & capacity data and update department manager.
- Demonstrated examples working with multiple people, teams, and departments to determine and implement process improvements.
