Job Overview

  • Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and comply with all federal, state, and local regulations for the safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle on heavy construction project sites.

 

A Day In The Life

  • Inspect vehicles for mechanical items, safety issues, perform preventative maintenance and report defects, accidents, or violations.
  • Ensure truck and parcel handling safety procedures are adhered to when picking up, transporting, and delivering parcels.
  • Ensures accuracy of all paperwork related to the job.
  • Inspect trucks for defects per OK DOT/Federal Motor Carrier regulations before each departure.
  • Promptly report any delays due to breakdowns, weather or traffic conditions or other emergencies, or in the event of irregularities relating to loading or delivery of materials.
  • Safely delivering freight at various locations, including over long distances.
  • Planning the most efficient routes and delivering freight on time.
  • Inventorizing loads and documenting the condition of the freight before departure.
  • Assisting in the loading and unloading of freight.
  • Securing the freight in place before departure and monitoring its safe distribution throughout the trip.
  • Logging the hours driven, rest stop durations, distances covered, as well as all fuel, repair, and toll expenses.
  • Reporting any delays due to road conditions, accidents, or breakdowns to management.
  • Adhering to federal and state trucking rules and regulations, including mandatory rest periods, weight restrictions, and weight adjustments.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Minimum 1 year of driving experience
  • High school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience preferred.
  • Ability to read instructions, numbers, and write legibly.
  • Have a current Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Must be able to pass DOT physical upon initial hire.
  • Certificate of Completion of a professional truck driving course preferred.
  • Extensive experience as a tractor-trailer truck driver.
  • An incident-free driving record, as well as solid knowledge of truck and trailer maintenance.
  • Advanced knowledge of route planning, using both road maps and GPS devices.
  • The ability to work long, irregular hours, and to remain alert and focused throughout.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
