Position Overview
This role is for a Day Shift Receiving Clerk. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with some weekly schedule variations as needed for Overtime.

Work Environment
Receiving clerks regularly alternate between office-based computer work and active duties on the warehouse receiving dock. The warehouse environment is non-climate-controlled, with temperatures that vary by season—ranging from hot in the summer to cold in the winter.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds repeatedly from floor to waist level
  • Ability to work in both hot and cold conditions, including on dock areas and outdoors as needed
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and sit at a desk for prolonged tasks when required

A Day In The Life

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivery Planning, Scheduling, & Unloading:
    Coordinate incoming shipments and ensure safe unloading practices are followed by assigned personnel. Verify shipment contents during receipt by inspecting packaging and product condition, and cross-checking against shipping documentation. Report any damages or discrepancies.

  • Shipment Verification:
    Ensure accuracy of all deliveries by comparing packing slips and invoices against purchase orders. Collaborate with material buyers to confirm correct quantities and items are received.

  • Inspection & Compliance:
    Inspect goods for damage or defects during the receiving process. Evaluate trailers and shipment contents to ensure compliance with safety, loading standards, and CTPAT requirements.

  • Inventory Management:
    Accurately record received items in SAP and maintain updated tracking spreadsheets. Support inventory control processes, including performing cycle counts as needed.

  • Discrepancy Resolution:
    Identify and report inconsistencies between shipments and purchase orders. Work with buyers and production teams to determine proper disposition and ensure timely resolution.

  • Returns & Claims Processing:
    Prepare and process returns (RMAs/PPIs) for damaged or incorrect items. Coordinate with internal departments and external vendors as needed. File claims with carriers for lost, missing, or damaged shipments.

  • Stock Organization & Warehouse Maintenance:
    Store received materials in designated locations and ensure accurate inventory tracking. Transfer items to appropriate departments as required. Maintain cleanliness and safety by performing daily floor checks and adhering to 5S standards. Ensure the loading dock and shipping office are organized and fully stocked.

  • Recordkeeping & Communication:
    Maintain accurate records of all shipments, including dates, quantities, damages, and vendor details. Communicate effectively with buyers, vendors, suppliers, and carriers regarding delivery issues, discrepancies, and claims. Support additional administrative duties as assigned.

  • Required Skills & Qualifications

    • Attention to Detail:
      Ability to accurately review and verify information on packing slips, delivery receipts, and purchase orders while processing transactions in systems such as SAP, MISC Shippers, and RTVPO. Maintain full focus on tasks by minimizing distractions from personal electronic devices to ensure safety and accuracy.

    • Basic Math Skills:
      Capable of performing calculations to confirm quantities and validate order accuracy.

    • Physical Stamina:
      Ability to safely lift and move packages weighing up to 35 pounds from floor level using proper lifting techniques.

    • Forklift Operation:
      Prior experience operating a forklift is required.

    • Computer Proficiency:
      Experience with inventory management systems and multiple software platforms, including SAP and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Teams, 365, SharePoint, Power BI, etc.).

    • Organizational Skills:
      Strong ability to manage incoming shipments efficiently while maintaining an organized and accurate warehouse environment.

    • Schedule Flexibility:
      Willingness to work variable shifts, including changes to scheduled hours and overtime as required based on operational needs.

    • Multitasking & Work Ethic:
      Ability to handle multiple responsibilities effectively while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and performance in a fast-paced work environment.
