Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

Provide leadership in managing and implementing all phases of capital projects for the Enclosures and Drains business unit. Work with plant operations and other departments to develop capital plan for productivity and process improvements, equipment replacement, and facility\utility needs.  Work within engineering to meet goals and objectives of the department and the Enclosures Business Unit.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain capital plan for the business unit.
  • Assist with scheduling, planning, forecasting, and resourcing technical projects.
  • Successfully manage all phases of project work with an uncompromising focus on safety while meeting cost and project schedule commitments
  • Confer with stakeholders to develop project scopes, design, and project parameters.
  • Lead project safety design reviews.
  • Provide engineering expertise and support to operations, engineering, and other departments within the business unit.
  • Lead medium to large scale projects from concept through design and implementation.
  • Provide bid documentation – work scopes, drawings, and specifications to contractors.
  • Instruct and manage contractors
  • Specify equipment and parts for projects and plant operations. 
  • Ensure compliance with the applicable codes, practices, policies, performance standards, and specifications.
  • Work in a team environment supporting all departments as required to meet organizational objectives.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred)
  • 3+ years' of project engineering with experience in Project management and working across engineering disciplines. 
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment with knowledge of process, utility and facility equipment.   
  • AutoDesk Inventor 2D/3D knowledge 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong communication skills  
  • Excellent organizational, time management, leadership, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work with multiple discipline projects
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, policies, standards, and best practices 
  • Ability to explain and present ideas and designs clearly 
  • Rationalization of product line addition needs associated with customer specifications
  • Ability to work within budgets and meet schedules
  • Ability to travel on business related trips (up to 25%)
  • Ability to walk around the manufacturing shop floor and lift 50 pounds as needed.
