Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for all materials and inventory levels in the Connectors Business Unit across multiple facilities (Leeds, AL / Juarez, MX / Winsted, CT) and will be physically located in Leeds, AL.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate multiple facility needs in our supply chain management, procurement/scheduling and warehouse activities, including all material flow in and outside of the plant operations. 
  • Lead the global supply chain, which includes sourcing, inventory management, buying and scheduling. 
  • Handle material logistics associated with supplying material to customers as well as other HPS locations. 
  • Support business needs in monthly PSI (Production, Sales and Inventory) forecast for next month and remainder of the year. 
  • Coordinates local sourcing group and responsible for driving material cost take out, and vendor performance. 
  • Identify and develop methods to minimize component shortages across multiple operations. 
  • Use our corporate sourcing organization on buys, shorten lead times, and reduce costs on major commodities. 
  • Coordinate forecasting of PPV (purchase price variance). 
  • Monitor the stocking programs and forecasts to ensure updates are made according to Hubbell guidelines. 
  • Work closely with offsite forecasting planning to ensure the integrity of the forecasts loaded in MRP. 
  • Monitor and improve the strategic measurements of Inventory, customer on-time service, demonstrated lead time, and supplier performance. 
  • Work with operations management on capacity constraints, lean activities, and material issues. 
  • Develop standard practice procedures and departmental procedures which are in line with corporate procedures. 
  • Direct facilities annual physical inventory and account for variances. 
  • Present inventory/service updates and strategic plans to management. 
  • Develop annual inventory plan that ties to the production and sales plan. 
  • Lead and coordinate physical inventories activities, including system upload and downloads at multiple facilities. 

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree; Masters Degree preferred but not required 
  • Strong experience leading a supply chain function within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in making business decisions on inventory, scheduling, buying, sourcing practices, and supply chain team structure. 
  • Experience making changes to material flow inside and outside of facility. 
  • Strong experience in MRP/ERP systems; SAP preferred
  • Ability to travel on business related trips up to 25%
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a matrixed environment
  • Ability to be out in plant operations on a regular basis.
