Job Overview
A Sr. Simulation Engineer reports to the VP of Technology for Transmission and Distribution Infrastructure and will lead our simulation and modeling shared services work in support of our Transmission and Distribution products in the Electric Utility market. They will execute key simulation work for high visibility development and investigation as well as lead other shared and business unit teams on our simulation strategy.

A Day In The Life
- Primary focus is Electric Utility equipment within Transmission and Distribution
- All activities are driven in support and aligned with the goals of the business unit engineering teams
- Execution of critical simulation tasks in support of new product development, significant product redesigns, engineered order products and root cause investigations
- Identify and execute simulation automation projects for high frequency simulations, predominantly for engineered to order products
- Develop and implement a simulation tool and process strategy for the Transmission and Distribution Infrastructure Strategic Business Unit and align that strategy with the broader Hubbell organization through Hubbell Engineering Leadership
- Organize organizational training and education for engineers
- Develop and maintain the simulation maturity matrix in support of the strategy
- Participate in key industry events such as IEEE, CIGRE, NAFEMS, ASME to drive best practice knowledge within the organization
- Lead the report out on industry events to the broader engineering teams
What will help you thrive in this role?
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials Engineering or equivalent STEM discipline
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering and/or medium and high voltage engineering
- 10 years of experience in design and new product development in a manufacturing environment within the electric utility space
- Strong familiarity and execution within Ansys, Comsol, Altair, or other equivalent simulation and modeling tools
- Ability to travel on business related trips – up to 15% of the time
- Ability to walk around the manufacturing shop floor and lift 50 pounds as needed (part inspection, part fit check, product testing, etc.)
