Job Overview
Hubbell's Switching & Fusing location in Leeds, AL is looking for a Sr. Product CAD Designer who wants to grow with us as we grow. As a Sr. Product CAD Designer you will design, develop, and draft customized solutions based on customer requirements while maintaining compliance with the latest industry standards relevant to the product line. Work closely with sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams to translate customer specifications into detailed design drawings that will include structural steel and aluminum, as well as control mechanisms used in Engineer-to-Order (ETO) high voltage substation and transmission switches.
A Day In The Life
- Perform design and drafting duties for Engineer-to-Order department
- Ensure drawings are accurate and completed in a timely manner
- Ensure drawings are compliant with relevant standards and specifications
- Communicate regularly with production shop floor regarding any manufacturability or quality issues
- Interact with customers both internally and externally during the design and approval process
- Author and manage Engineering Change Orders as appropriate
- Manage own drawing schedule in a fast-paced environment while designing various product types
What will help you thrive in this role?
- Associate’s degree, or equivalent experience in drafting and design
- Need strong working experience in engineering design and proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD packages (ideally Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and SolidWorks)
- Experience in Engineering Change Management (ideally Autodesk Vault and SAP Fiori)
- Experience reading and interpreting structural drawings
- Understanding of dynamic mechanical and electrical systems
- Steel fabrication drafting and design experience
- Experience in SAP ERP software
- Experience in MS Office Products
- Must have excellent communication, writing, and verbal skills
