Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

This is Marketing focused Manager position. This position will be responsible for managing and leading the Product Managers (technical marketing personnel) and Application Engineering positions for Substation & Transmission Connectors. The Marketing Manager needs strong leadership skills and the ability to understand technical concepts for mentoring these direct reports. This role will help in the efforts in developing a strategic vision on business growth opportunities, product line rationalization and customer interfacing tools. To meet the global business objectives for business growth, this role will be involved in helping to identify new product opportunities as well as aiding in the review of business acquisition opportunities. The Marketing Manager will also aid in evolving and enhancing the customer experience through marketing, branding and other initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the sales and profitability of the Substation & Transmission Connector Product line.
  • Mentor team members on Hubbell culture, process/applications, products and etc.
  • Leading and guiding Product Managers on pricing strategies for both general business and major projects. 
  • Product line strategies:  New product ideas, product line rationalizations, marketing justification, etc.
  • Product line rationalization:  Existing products and also duplicate product lines across HUS
  • Strategic planning for product line growth (5-year growth strategy).
  • Collaborate with other Hubbell Business Units such as the Insulator BU & Civil/Construction BU, Bushing BU and Arrester BU to aid in the One-Hubbell voice to our customers
  • Communicate with Hubbell Sales Team & Customers (Problem resolutions involving price, service or contractual issues not authorized at the Product Manager level, competitor activities, customer needs, etc.)
  • Collaborate with the Hubbell Branding team and lead team on: Catalogs, Brochures, PIM, major shows (IEEE/PES) and other corporate initiatives as they arise
  • Strategic Customer Events – may include traveling to customer locations for major business opportunities that will aid in 5-year strategic goals.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Prefer at least 5 years industry experience if possible, demonstrated leadership/manager experience and the ability to learn the technical basics of the product lines and effectively communicate with both internal/external personnel from Hubbell.
  • Solid written and oral communicate skill
  • Ability to work on a personal computer or other related equipment as required 
  • Microsoft® applications such as Excel, Word, TEAMS, etc.  
  • Proactive & Solution oriented.
  • Ability to travel occasionally
  • Desirable but also obtainable at Hubbell is SAP knowledge/proficiencies.
