Job Overview

The Quality Assurance (QA) Technician is responsible for the following functions for the Connectors Business Unit in Leeds, Alabama.  Quality Assurance is responsible for supporting daily operations, ensuring HPS quality standards are being met, improving the manufacturing process by removing waste, process documentation and ensuring the safety of all operations. 

A Day In The Life

  • Coordinate activities with other management personnel as required.  Will have a broad view of the business and need to be willing to coordinate efforts in other areas as required
  • Significant understanding of foundry operations along with advanced knowledge of sand systems
  • Ensure process optimization, quality and profitability in designated areas by way of Control Plan(s), Corrective Action(s) & Quality Alerts.
  • Keep management apprised of progress and obstacles that constrain attainment of company objectives.  More importantly, must be able to offer proposals for overcoming said obstacles
  • Total awareness of the plant policies and environment as it pertains to the safety of other employees, operation of equipment, handling of equipment/materials, and visitors required.
  • Critical to driving waste out of our production system through Lean techniques and other cost reduction initiatives
  • Understand and monitor QA & Production performance as defined in foundry control plan(s).
  • Totally engaged in over-all foundry scrap reduction efforts and issuing scrap reports.
  • Provide internal auditing of plant wide procedures and processing to ensure our systems meet HPS requirements along with the ISO Standard.
  • Maintaining ISO 9001:2015 procedures and associated documents.
  • Other duties as assigned by management

  • High School diploma or equivalent 
  • Basic knowledge or familiarity with Quality Instruments 
  • Flexibilty to work weekend hours as needed
  • Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint basic proficiency
  • SAP experience and strong corrective action skills are preferred
