Job Overview

Our Switching and Fusing operation in Leeds, AL is looking for a Production Scheduler to grow with us as we grow! The Production Scheduler is responsible for developing, managing, and continuously optimizing production schedules to ensure efficient manufacturing operations and on-time delivery. This role serves as a critical link between customer demand, production execution, and material supply, balancing capacity, inventory, and workflow to drive operational performance.  The position requires close collaboration with Production, Purchasing, Customer Service, Engineering, and Logistics teams to minimize disruptions, resolve constraints, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

 

The Production Scheduler plays a vital role in ensuring alignment between customer demand, production capabilities, and material supply. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities while driving operational efficiency and on-time delivery.

A Day In The Life

•    Develop, maintain, and adjust detailed production schedules based on demand, capacity, and material availability
•    Release and manage production orders aligned with manufacturing priorities and business objectives
•    Monitor production performance and modify schedules to address delays, bottlenecks, or changing priorities
•    Track backlog, capacity, and workflow across production lines and prioritize work centers accordingly
•    Partner with Production, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Logistics teams to ensure material availability
•    Collaborate with Customer Service on order status, expedite requests, and lead-time inquiries
•    Work with Engineering and Manufacturing to resolve production issues and constraints
•    Communicate schedule changes, risks, and impacts to key stakeholders
•    Coordinate with Sourcing/Purchasing related to suppliers/vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials
•    Expedite critical materials and production orders to meet delivery commitments
•    Optimize inventory levels by managing lead times, reorder points, and material flow
•    Maintain accurate ERP system data (SAP) for scheduling and planning activities
•    Analyze production, inventory, and forecast data to drive decision-making
•    Track and assist in resolution of production variances and system discrepancies
•    Generate reports and provide insights on schedule performance
•    Identify constraints and bottlenecks and implement corrective actions
•    Participate in production control and planning meetings
•    Recommend improvements to scheduling processes and efficiency
•    Perform other duties assigned by the Master Scheduler and/or Materials Manager related within the scope of work.

What will help you thrive in this role?

•    2–6+ years of experience in production scheduling, materials planning, or supply chain roles
•    Experience in a manufacturing environment
•    Strong understanding of capacity planning, backlog management, and production flow
•    Proficiency in ERP systems required; SAP highly preferred
•    Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills
•    Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
•    Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
•    Excellent communication and collaboration skills
•    Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field (preferred)
•    APICS CPIM or similar certification (preferred)
•    Experience in high-mix, high-volume manufacturing (preferred)
