Job Overview
In this role you will be responsible for building and maintaining foundry patterns and related tooling at our modern and air-conditioned facility.
A Day In The Life
- Set up and operate efficiently all machines and equipment in the Tool Room such as grinders, lathes, milling machines, drill presses, saws, planer, sanders, mig, tig, arc and acetylene welding
- Use all machinists and patternmaker hand tools and precision measuring instruments skillfully
- Fabricate, assemble, construct and repair metal, plastic and wood parts, tools, jigs, fixtures, master patterns, core boxes and dies from prints, sketches or templates
- Construct, calibrate, or set gauges and precision measuring instruments
- Sharpen all tools and work to a minimum tolerance of .001
- Maintain equipment and working area in a clean and orderly condition
- Perform other job-related duties as directed by supervisor or group leader
- Requires a minimum of instruction and supervision
What will help you thrive in this role?
- High school diploma or GED
- Have previously completed a Patternmaker apprenticeship program
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a toolroom environment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and design models
- Excellent fine motor skills
- Detail-oriented
- Ability to work to a deadline
- Ability to adhere to company rules and guidelines, including daily attendance
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
- Physically fit and able to stand for long periods
- Ability to lift 50lbs repeatedly
- Work in a union shop
CNC mill and/or ram EDM setup and operation experience preferred
