Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. Position Overview

Primary responsibility of the Tool & Die Maker position:

  • Works in the pattern shop maintaining, building and repairing trim, form press and miscellaneous machining tools
  • Responsibilities include maintaining die and die component inventory
  • Experienced tool and die technician, also familiar with sharpening all types of machine tools


Core description of the position

  • Inspect trim die equipment to insure all specifications are met
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Perform complex die repairs and modifications
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Perform corrective, scheduled and preventive maintenance on trim die equipment
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Identify concerns and recommend countermeasures
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Sharpen related punched and dies
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Proper extraction, maintenance and re-installation of die components
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Handling of external parts at the manufacturing cells
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Set-up, test run and approve trim die performance for release to production
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Perform machine setups on the manual machining equipment such as lathes, drill presses, milling machines etc. to support the manufacturing cells
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Maintain all tooling related to the manual machining cells
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Assist with the training of manual machine operators
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Interpreted drawing specifications
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Fabricate, fit and assemble parts to make, repair or modify dies, jigs, gauges and tools using machine and hand tools
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Select materials to be used for various die and fixture applications
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Set-up and operate conventional or numerically controlled machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses and grinders to cut, bore, grind or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Complete required tool hardening using heat treating furnaces
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Organize and maintain storage of dies and related parts inventory
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Perform all tasks in a safe and timely manner while adhering to all company policies
Skills and Experience
  • 5 plus years job related experience
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">TIG welding experience required
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Knowledge of proximity switches, sensors and applications
High School Diploma
