Job Overview
The Manager, Engineer-to-Order (ETO) leads the engineering design and configuration process for custom high-voltage switching and substation products. This role oversees the translation of customer specifications into manufacturable designs, manages engineering resources and priorities, coordinates with product management, operations, planning, and production teams, and ensures projects are delivered accurately and on schedule.
A Day In The Life
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the Engineer-to-Order design team supporting customized substation and transmission switch products.
- Establish engineering priorities and workload balancing to meet customer commitments and production schedules.
- Provide technical direction for complex customer requirements and product configurations.
- Drive continuous improvement of engineering processes, standards, and design tools.
- Support the transition from RFQ through quotation, sales order, design release, customer approval, and production.
- Coordinate with Customer Service, Sales, Product Management, Planning, and Operations throughout the order lifecycle.
- Oversee development of design drawings, approval drawings, structural layouts, and engineering documentation.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, customer specifications, and internal requirements.
- Partner closely with manufacturing and planning teams to ensure designs can be produced efficiently.
- Lead Variant Configuration maintenance and development efforts for most efficient customer configuration process
- Lead and develop engineering and configuration personnel.
- Track all pertinent KPIs measuring ETO process health and be able to diagnose and correct any process deviations

What will help you thrive in this role?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Data Science, Project Management or Supply Chain.
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing with 3-5 years supervisory experience preferred
- CAD experience
- Strong critical-thinking skills
- Variant Configuration experience
- Strong SQL Database experience
