Job Overview
The CNC Operator is responsible for operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce precision parts and components according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This role monitors machine performance, performs routine inspections, and ensures safe and efficient production.
A Day In The Life
• Program, set-up & run CNC mill/lath machines.
• Troubleshoot programs, make corrections and give feedback to Manufacture Engineers.
• Properly set up and use cutting tools and fixtures
• Using gauges and measuring instruments to ensure proper quality.
• Understand, interpret and write basic codes/programs as needed.
• Perform cleaning and maintenance on machines such as cleaning metal chips out of CNC machines.
• Check daily liquid levels of machine
• Follow inspection and status reports
• Comply with quality policies, specifications and work instructions
• Train other personnel as needed
• Other duties as requested by Supervisor and/or management.
What will help you thrive in this role?
• Associates degree for CNC Machining/Programming or 3 years of relevant CNC machining/programming experience.
• Ability to read/interpret blueprints and work instructions.
• Requires mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide and perform metric conversations.
• Ability to read and use quality inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers and gauges.
• Must be able to lift up to 35lbs, stand, bend, lift and reach for periods of time.
• Must be able to follow all shop rules and all safety rules.
• Must be a motivated team player and work well with others with little supervision.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.
• Must be able to work 3rd shift
• Skills assessment will be required.
