Job Overview

The Supervisor of Field Services shall administer scheduling and tracking of Beckwith Systems Engineering (BSE) projects from lead development and proposal preparation through contract receipt and acknowledgement to design, material procurement, manufacturing, factory acceptance testing, shipping, billing and final installation and commissioning.

A Day In The Life

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - other duties may be assigned.

  • Coordinate and schedule BSE personnel and consultants, when required,  for service trips, trainings, commissionings, and Engineering design or reviews.
  • Obtain in a timely manner required documents for on-site services.
  • Schedule and ship equipment when required for on-site services.
  • Assist in resolution in customer’s Terms and Conditions as necessary.
  • Manage proper invoicing of services upon completion of BSE projects 
  • Assist the manager in preperation of budgets for BSE department.
  • Comply with all work rules, including but not limited to, the company's safety and attendance policies.

Regarding quotations and bids for projects:

  • Review bid documents and distribute to commercial, technical and others responsible to assist in preparing the proposal.
  • Manage the bid package development, including bid and performance bonds.
  • Manage proposal preparation for systems quotes and bids as necessary with whatever internal resources are required.
  • Coordinate the tasks and projects for BSE Staff, Consultants, Contractors, Administration and Manufacturing
  • Once proposals/quotes are sent out, the Supervisor of Field Services will pursue each opportunity with the responsible Regional Sales & Applications Manager, and respective independent sales Representative.
  • Liaise with customers, sub-contractors, prime contractors, and Hubbell/Beckwith Management from proposal generation through project completion. 
  • When orders/bids are won, the Manager shall begin orchestrating coordination of the project/order by coordinating all internal activities including procurement, scheduling, internal testing, and witness tests if required
  • Monitor procurement of outside purchased devices, scheduling and flow of work, targeted milestones, testing, and certification if required.
  • Coordinate with:  Material and Engineering procurement,  Manufacturing, Design Engineering, Drawing Preparation, Drawings for Customer review, Trips – site visit, walk through, installation, commissioning, training, Factory Acceptance Test, Site Acceptance Test, Shipping Logistics, Billing 
    •    Ensure all necessary personnel including Regional Sales & Applications Managers, and representatives are copied on all project schedule details and completed milestones

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivilant experience in project coordination.  
  • Experience or knowledge in various phases or proposal preparation, planning, organizing.
  • Experience working with independent sales reps preferred.
  • Ability to work with internal staff and directing efforts of other division personnel even though they are not direct reports.
  • Ability to read and understand Engineering drawings preferred.
  • Strong sense of self direction, extreme organizational skills, self-motivated, proactive, and must be able to prioritize and multitask.
  • Familiarity with the current laws, regulations and commercial aspects of importing and exporting, such as knowledge of letters of credit, Incoterms, performance bonds, tariff codes, bid bonds, penalty clauses, currency hedging, etc.
  • Ability to develop knowledge of the company’s products and services, and their application in the generation, transmission, and distribution of electric power.
  • Ability to develop an understanding of competitive products, services, and marketing practices.
  • Familiarity with the industry terms, such as UL, IEC, ANSI, IEEE and CE, and local laboratory certificate requirements.
  • Familiarity with SAP, Microsoft Office applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, AutoCAD, and project management software, milestones, etc.
