A Day In The Life
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and lead the procurement process, ensuring smooth integration and effective acquisition of materials for ongoing products and new development initiatives, in alignment with strategic objectives and cost optimization.
- Ensure that all goods and services are acquired in a timely manner against established need, received on time, and at or better than established standard cost.
- Manage the bid process to ensure that it is competitive, fair and ethical.
- The Purchasing Supervisor is held to the highest ethical standards and questions any potentially inappropriate procurement activities to maintain the integrity of the company’s procurement process.
- The Purchasing Supervisor demonstrates strong time management abilities, assessing and coordinating the tasks of the purchasing team.
- Stays updated on industry developments including procedural changes, document revisions, tariffs, new clauses, required disclosures, and standard certifications relevant to potential business partners.
- Maintains standard operating procedures, conducts training for purchasing staff on these protocols, and continuously enhances and optimizes all procurement activities.
- Collobrates with Accounts Payable personnel to address issues in the purchase order payment process and liaises with external agencies to coordinate purchases and contracts.
- Problem Solving challenges and supports the purchasing team in managing material risks effectively.
- Procurement Lead for Tiger Team - Encompasses End of Life, Last Time Buys, Obsolescence, replacement alternatives with Engineering.
- Provide support to buyers in managing inventory challenges, including adjusting delivery dates, addressing back orders, and navigating long lead times, ensuring optimal stock levels are maintained for uninterrupted production and customer satisfaction
- Oversee the daily review and approval of Engineering Changes (ECs), ensure all modifications meet company standards, and efficiently assign each approved EC to the most suitable buyer for prompt action and implementation.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervises employees and activities of the Purchasing function for the company.
- Executes supervisory duties following the organization's policies, procedures, and relevant laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, timecard approvals, and training employees; planning assignments, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Leads team meetings to discuss departmental progress and share company updates and news

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Five plus years in a manufacturing, procurement and supply chain environment with progressive responsibility.
- Five years of experience in a supervisory position preferred.
- Four Four-year college or university degree in business or material management or equivalent experience preferred.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
Ability to identify electronic and mechanical components; familiarity with purchasing and inventory control procedures in a manufacturing environment; familiarity with a fully integrated computing system; ability to supervise others.
- Evaluating and Negotiating contracts and terms with Suppliers.
- Analyze data and market trends to make informed purchasing decisions and optimize procurement strategies.
- Demonstrates strong leadership and supervisory skills, with excellent verbal and written communication abilities essential for negotiating with suppliers, managing team communications, and reporting to upper management.
- Organizational skills with being able to multi-task projects and priorities.
- SAP experience a plus.
- Microsoft Excel, MS Office knowledge and experience.
EQUIPMENT/TOOLS: PC Computer; calculator; printer; copier; telephone.
