Job Overview

tThe PCX Material Handler Position moves material and equipment throughout the PCX facility to assist in production and inventory control.  The Material Handler Position ensures that materials and equipment are stored properly once received, whether stock or project specific, and identified correctly for their intended use. The Material Handler Position prepares materials from inventory for use in production, to include cutting, kitting, and staging.  The Material Handler Position performs inventory counts as specified and is responsible for the clean and safe storage of all material within the warehouse.

A Day In The Life

  • Adheres to PCX Quality Management System and ISO9001 standards.
  • Must follow PCX safety guidelines and requirements.  Wear required PPE at all times.
  • Listens and follows directions from leads and supervisors.
  • Provide assistance to other stockroom and warehouse workers.
  • Maintain a clean, professional and organized warehouse and all other affiliated areas.
  • Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.
  • Safely work with all equipment, machines, and tools required for job completion.
  • Store items in an orderly, accessible, and safe manner.
  • Maintains tools and equipment in proper working condition.
  • Identify material and equipment issues.
  • Mark stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
  • Coordinate delivery to the production line when materials are urgently needed to support production.
  • Interface with delivery drivers to ensure proper documentation is acquired.
  • Apply proper labeling to material and parts.
  • Count stock items, and record data manually or using a computer.
  • Perform inventory counts.
  • Report inventory use as required.
  • Loading and unloading trucks containing large pallets of switchgear, measuring approximately 8’x8’.
  • Staging and moving large pallets of switchgear within PCX facility to support production requirements.
  • Provide guidance and training to other team members that will serve as back-up for Material Handler Position.
  • Provide documentation (BOL and Large Gear Receiving Log) to Receiving Associate to make product labels for large switchgear.
  • Coordinate with QA for receiving inspection of switchgear and assist in quality inspections.
  • Conduct forklift battery maintenance weekly.
  • When project specific job transfers are requested, the materials would be located, relabeled and physically moved to the correct production or shipping area.
  • With issuance of Hubbell tablet the responsibility would be for updating status on physical movements to support quality/production, receiving of switchgear will have documentation completed within 30 minutes and labeling of switchgear within 2 hours. Communication with Quality Department will utilize a sharepoint site.

  • Complete Time Reporting Sheets.
  • Ensure working environment is clean and safe.
  • Able to operate a pallet jack and forklift.
  • Able to lift 50# consistently.
  • Ability to work 10 hours per day and weekends as required.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
