Job Overview

The Senior Planner is responsible for supporting daily manufacturing operations by managing production schedules and key performance metrics. This role requires proactive analysis and forecasting to adapt to changing business needs, leadership feedback, and manufacturing constraints. The Senior Planner develops schedules that align with customer requirements and business growth, while continuously gathering and presenting data to leadership and manufacturing teams to ensure alignment with current and future workloads.

A Day In The Life

  • Develop, maintain, and communicate project schedules and milestones to ensure alignment with customer requirements and internal objectives.
  • Optimize production scheduling through level-loading to improve resource utilization, reduce waste, and achieve cadence targets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, purchasing, materials, engineering) to resolve material issues and maintain schedule adherence.
  • Monitor and update planning tools and performance metrics daily, including workload vs. capacity, on-time delivery, and throughput.
  • Manage job releases to the factory to minimize work-in-progress, maximize throughput, and balance workload with current demand.

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience in Engineering, Logistics, Materials Management, Manufacturing or related field is preferred.
  • Five to seven years of experience in planning, construction planning, or production control in a manufacturing environment.

 

Skill & Qualifications

  • Critical thinking and data-driven decision-making, with strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis capabilities.
  • Adaptability and collaboration, with proven ability to influence others and work toward shared goals in dynamic environments.
  • Technical proficiency, including MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project) and scheduling software (Primavera P6 or similar).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on planning and execution.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and ability to work onsite as needed to understand and support production operations.
  • Proven ability to think critically and use data to make sound decisions
