Job Overview
The P&C Commissioning Technician I will perform acceptance testing and pre-commissioning of protection and control (P&C) equipment in the factory using procedures set-forth by Systems Control and its utility partners.

A Day In The Life
- Apply protective relay settings and perform testing that validates proper function
- Apply RTU settings and verify status, metering, and control functions
- Troubleshoot and problem-solve when deficiencies are identified
- Perform testing procedures and document the results completely, in accordance with internal and customer-specific requirements
- Keep up-to-date with utility industry trends and practices by attending relevant training opportunities
- Provide technical support to engineering, manufacturing and test departments
- Identify potential process improvements and collaborate with other team members
- Notify designers and engineers of deficiencies identified during testing
- Execute testing procedures that ensure elements of P&C design are properly applied and functioning as intended
What will help you thrive in this role?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent education and experience
- Minimum 1 year of testing electric utility P&C equipment
- NFPA and OSHA safety certified, or ability to become certified
- Commitment to continued education, training, and learning new tasks
- Familiar with some electric utility industry testing and documentation requirements
- General understanding of the operation, application, and testing of protective relays
- Understand the importance of safe work practices associated with the electric utility industry
- Ability to incorporate human performance tools into daily work practices
- Familiar with RTU point assignments and checkout
- Strong attention to detail with proven analytical and problem-solving skills
- Self-starter able to work both in teams and individually with limited supervision
- Familiar with electric utility P&C schematic and wiring diagrams
- Competent with Microsoft Office Suite programs: Excel, Outlook, Word
