Job Overview

The Lean Manufacturing Specialist is responsible for implementing and sustaining Kaizen throughout the plant and focusing the facility on and becoming a world class Lean manufacturing operation with a high involvement culture. This includes training employees on Lean tools, planning and coordination/leading of Kaizen events, monitoring performance vs. improvement targets, sustaining changes made during events, and execution of continuous improvement projects.

A Day In The Life

Every day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by: 

  • Organizing and coordinating Kaizen activities, including the planning and execution of Kaizen events/teams.
    Assisting in the collection and preparation of proper prerequisite data for each Kaizen event.
  • Following up on Kaizen events to ensure 30-day and Parking Lot follow-up items are completed as scheduled.
  • Monitoring and reporting on 90-day sustainment of Kaizen event improvements.
  • Training Continuous Improvement techniques as needed to assure complete familiarity and ease of use.
  • Acting as Facilitator, Team Leader, or Team Member on Kaizen events, and facilitate Day 1 training events.
  • Contributing to and promoting Continuous Improvement/Kaizen activities throughout the plant.
  • Actively pursuing avenues for reducing waste.
    Implementing and monitoring sustainable visual management programs throughout the plant, including 5S, schedule adherence, and other shop floor reporting.
  • Leading Planning and Review (P&R) sessions to develop Kaizen event schedules based on business goals, needs and risks. Also leading monthly Kaizen Steering Committee meetings with senior staff.
  • Supporting plant-wide Safety initiatives.
  • Coordinating and collaborating with other Lean personnel across the business unit, group, and enterprise.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (required)
  • Lean tool experience (required)
  • Prior Kaizen team leadership required
  • Lean Certification preferred
