Job Overview

Our System's Control location in Iron Mountain, MI is looking for an Engineering Manager. As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing group leaders of project management and technical resource teams within the engineering department. These teams are responsible for the execution of projects including customer interactions and technical support of the projects for the customer and the manufacturing processes.

A Day In The Life

  • Provide leadership and guidance to project management and technical teams to align with the strategic goals set forth for the company
  • Develop annual strategic goals that align with 3-5-year plan
  • Collaborate and align goals with Project  Managers
  • Align relevant group metrics along with associated data collection to quantify improvements and reporting to engineering manager and team dashboard
  • Work with management team on regular cadence monitoring slotting schedules and maintaining resources to support the factory demand.
  • Drive performance within the teams to improve quality, on time delivery of products and margins.
  • Coordinate and lead monthly operational reviews for the Engineering Department
  • Develop standardization throughout the teams creating and organization capable of scaling with the projected workload forecasts
  • Maintain standardized training and process documentation in accordance with the QMS
  • Ensure departmental adherence with the governing quality manual, work instructions, procedures, and standard work processes 
  • Champion procedural changes within the standard work that increase quality while economically decreasing workload issues and interruptions
  • Assist project management with customer interactions and interfaces
  • Assist with customer visits and ensure that customer satisfaction is paramount throughout interactions with Systems Control
  • Champion individuals to lead problem solving exercises/RI events
  • Develop direct reports, onboard new team members, daily, weekly, and yearly coaching of employees to build an actively engaged workforce.
  • Actively participate in the effort to identify additional services and product solutions for existing customers
     

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Business or Project Management related field or equivalent in education with experience
  • At least 5 years' of increasingly responsible experience in engineering or project management position in a similar industry.
  • Experience driving strategic goals with guidance of direct reports.
  • Highly motivated with excellent leadership skills possessing the ability to drive initiatives and produce results 
  • Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to effectively align priorities to meet business needs 
  • Skilled at evaluating employees’ performance in a balanced and consistent manner and providing training, direction, and support  
  • Adept at methodically analyzing problems and making quality decisions  
  • Ability to effectively interface with internal and external customers and suppliers 
  • Technical knowledge/understanding of Panel and Equipment Enclosure Engineering and related Manufacturing processes (Preferred but not required)
