Job Overview

Hubbell's Systems Control location in Iron Mountain, MI is looking for a CAD Lead. As the CAD Lead, you'll play a ciritical role in leading a team of CAD Designers and driving the development of high-quality, efficent product designs that meet our customers needs and align with our business goals. The Design Drafting Supervisor oversees the production of and changes to drawings of detailed manufactured parts, sub-assemblies, assemblies, and required specification drawings. 

A Day In The Life

  • Every day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by: 
  • Designing products that meet customer specifications, compliance requirements, and production preferences
  • Managing multiple CAD Designers within the group
  • Balancing resource workload to meet schedule requirements and making resourcing recommendations to pace business growth
  • Training direct reports in the efficient use of CAD and PLM
  • Initiating efficiency improvements through the development of standard work
  • Collaborating with internal and external customers on design issues and schedule concerns
  • Standardizing designs across products to improve design and production efficiency
  • Emphasizing continuous quality improvement; monitoring drawing standards and implementing quality control programs
  • Establishing and tracking performance criteria that support business goals such as on-time release of drawings to production

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Associate degree in CAD or related field (required)
  • Three to five years of experience in drafting, design, manufacturing, or related construction (required)
  • Three years of employee supervision experience (preferred)
  • Proven skills in process development and improvement
  • Ability to set expectations/goals and ensure follow-through
  • Knowledgeable in Creo (or similar) and Windchill and/or similar file management systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Understanding of manufacturing process strengths and limitations
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated exceptional leadership capabilities & strategy deployment
