Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview

Aclara Technologies, a leading technology company in the utility sector is looking for top-notch Software Quality Engineers for our enterprise-class software applications. In this role, the candidate will actively participate in ensuring the quality of the software solutions. We expect this individual to be self-motivated and comfortable working as part of a large cross-functional team. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of test principles and best practices.

Design, Implement, and execute tests on the Aclara Sofware Suite. This person will also be responsible for creating and maintaining an automated test framework to ensure future changes do not break existing interfaces.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Become familiar with the software under test and gain product knowledge.
Design and create test cases and scripts to address technical and business use cases.
Work with Development, Test and Product Management to design and implement test and validation strategies.
Execute and manage test cases and results; report on test and defect metrics.
Co-ordinate with design teams to understand testing related issues, dependencies and be aligned with their releases/timelines.
Use existing tools and techniques to execute test cases and build/script new tools for performing testing/validation function.
Create/extend automated test frameworks to incorporate new tests.
Execute and analyze automation test results.
Perform regression testing of defects
Adept with version management tools (TFS/Git)
Hands-on experience on Automation scripting languages such as VBScript and Javascript.
Creating and enhancing test scripts using UFT, Selenium Webdriver, Java and TestNG Annotations.
Good Understanding and hands-on, at using unit test libraries (Selenium, Protractor)
Good Analytical skills in inspecting web-applications, for UI controls and ways to handle/interact with them, using Javascript, JQuery, XPath and CSS.
Estimate scope of effort for test activities.
Write Test Reports, Test Plans, and another project documentation
Assist with the coordination and scheduling of test activities
Create and document detailed Test Cases from Use Cases and other requirement documents.
Design, document, and execute comprehensive test suites to validate new/changed functionality within several existing applications.
Design, document, and execute regression tests.
Report test results to the stakeholders

Skills and Experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Required:

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
Minimum 3+ years’ experience in writing test plans, test cases, and scripts required
Minimum 4+ years of hands-on coding with UFT or Selenium is a must.
Minimum 3+ years of hands on experience in scripting languages such as VBScript and Javascript.
Experience testing within an agile, iterative SDLC (e.g., Agile, SCRUM, etc.) environment preferred.
Excellent analytical skills in inspecting web-applications, for UI controls and ways to handle/interact with them, using Javascript, JQuery. XPath and CSS.
Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills and detail-oriented.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Prior experience with RESTful/SOAP preferred.
Experience with TFS/Git Build server setup preferred.
Previous Utility Industry experience preferred.
Ability to work with Minimal Supervision


Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
