Position Overview

The VP/GM of the Connector Manufacturing Company reports into the VP/GM of the Light Industrial Business Unit as part of the larger Hubbell Electrical Systems (HES) division within Hubbell, Inc. This position is responsible for Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Operations and Customer Service and in partnership with other functions for specific activities across one or more departments in order to craft, market, engineer, manufacture, and distribute quality products or solutions that meet customer and/ or market needs. This role will be aligned to a specific market(s), product(s) and sales channels within Business Unit. Responsibilities include leading all aspects of running a business directly and indirectly across the group and/or enterprise. Overall responsibility may include some locations and/or clients outside the US, with expectations of encouraging close working relationships with Hubbell intra-company partners (Burndy, HPS, Canada, Mexico).

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Participate in development of group specific goals supporting enterprise strategy.
  • Develop strategic plans and implement tactical activities for key products/markets within business portfolio in support of Hubbell strategy; these include sales, financial performance, new product development, etc.
  • Coordinate projects, processes, performance reports, data and analysis.
  • Review operations and plans to meet requirements for sales planning and to resolve appropriate resources meaningful to meet short and long-term business and growth profitability objectives.
  • Coordinates manufacturing and materials departments to review production and operating reports, resolve operational, manufacturing and facility issues to ensure minimize cost impact and improve service to protect growth potential.
  • Represent Hubbell and HES as appropriate with the customer, supplier, competitor and government agency relationships.
  • Review analyses of activities, costs, operations and forecast data to ensure department and division progress toward stated objectives.
  • Work with key partners to meet Hubbell goals.
  • Maintain surveillance of the competitive landscape to safeguard position in the marketplace.
  • Ensure significant OEM spend for Hubbell equivalent product is understood and communicated to CES Manager.
Skills and Experience
  • Master's degree or equivalent; four to 10 years’ related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • The ability to lead in a diverse environment with focus on client and customer services while building and growing a strong business unit.
  • P&L accountability.
  • Experience in a leadership role with oversight of multiple managers and supervisors.
  • Consistent track record of success with major industrial channels that include direct to end user, OEM, Electrical Distribution, alternate channels such as catalog houses and web-based online stores.
  • Experience with international business (both customers and suppliers).
  • Excellent customer relationship network.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Critical thinking to plan for future state while executing current goals and objectives.
  • Discernment - can lead a business and understand business unit, group and enterprise products, understand financial impact and translate that into sales results and customer satisfaction.
  • Decision making - can aim to decisions at all levels, appropriately leading most critical while delegating to others.
  • Able to communicate efficiently with various partners up, down and across the business.
  • Strong influencer of direct and indirect teammates.
  • Problem Solving/Analysis - can look systemically at an issue or problem and resolve root cause and settle appropriate action to tackle on a timely basis.
  • Technical knowledge – ability to translate customer needs into a strategic sales plan and work with engineers, sales, marketing and operations to bring products and solutions to bear.
  • Validated leader - knows when to pull in others and partner to get work done and produce results.
  • Possess strong emotional intelligence vital to secure relationships with OEM senior management to build trust.
  • Passion to follow-up continuously/daily on granular cost issues with team.
  • Continuously improve dash boards to know and improve cost impacts.
  • Ensure cadence is followed continuously.
  • Maturity to understand strength/weaknesses of team and capitalize.
  • Ability to dive into weeds quickly and revert to big picture as needed.
  • Strong Operations experience given team size, breadth and depth.
  • Modesty to know when you need help.
Masters Degree in Business or Finance
