Position Overview

Quality inspection position to support end-to-end inspection of factory floor operations and to assist with special projects to fulfill customer’s quality requirements.  Position reports directly to the Quality Manager for the facility and will play an active role in supporting and contributing to improving Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) sources.

The position will include:

  1. Inspection (incoming, in-process, final)
  2. Aiding with the development and maintenance of inspection paperwork/work instructions
  3. Aiding with performing First Article Inspections for Production/Suppliers and helping with Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
  4. Supporting special customer quality program requirements through documentation updates/maintenance

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Perform various levels of inspection (incoming, in-process/roving, final) according to critical quality processes to verify customer requirements.
  2. Help maintain repository of inspection data recorded on local H: Drive and SAP.
  3. Create/maintain quality inspection paperwork to include, but not limited to inspection charts, quality alerts, and work instructions for example.
  4. Support production and supplier qualification through execution of first article inspection, maintain record keeping of information.
  5. Perform SAP transactions within the Quality Module to streamline quality reporting of in-process, customer, and supplier rejections.
  6. Help maintain quarantined inventory locations to ensure that aged inventory is kept below a certain threshold.
  7. Assist quality team members with performing inspection as part of the PPAP process.
  8. Perform quality training at specified intervals to ensure employees understand quality processes/practices.
  9. Secure technical certification- Certified Quality Inspector and to participate in training that will be beneficial to furthering quality goals at the CMC – Hamilton facility.
  10. Other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.

Skills and Experience

Basic computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Tools: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and ERP software, which can be trainable i.e. SAP

Basic mathematics

Understanding of quality terminology and practices

Measurement device usage i.e., calipers, hardness testers, thread plugs, et al gage types

Understanding of inspection methods, sampling, measurement frequency, etc.

Critical Thinking

Documentation Development

ISO 9001 Understanding

Worked in following industries in the pasts—Manufacturing, Process or similar industries

Bilingual in Spanish or French a plus

Certified Internal or Lead Auditor (ISO 9001:2015)

Education

High School Diploma
Associates Degree
