Job Overview

The Planning Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all production planning activities and personnel. This role ensures that production schedules align with customer demand, inventory targets, and operational efficiency goals. The Planning Supervisor will lead a team of planners and collaborate cross-functionally with procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and sales to ensure timely and cost-effective production.

A Day In The Life

  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of production planners.
    • Assign tasks, monitor performance, and conduct regular team meetings.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Production Planning
    • Develop and maintain master production schedules based on demand forecasts, inventory levels, and capacity constraints.
    • Ensure alignment between planning activities and manufacturing capabilities.
    • Monitor and adjust schedules to respond to changes in demand, supply disruptions, or operational issues.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with procurement to ensure timely availability of raw materials.
    • Coordinate with manufacturing to optimize resource utilization and minimize downtime.
    • Communicate with customer service and sales teams to manage order fulfillment and lead times.
  • Systems & Reporting
    • Utilize ERP/MRP systems to manage planning data and generate reports.
    • Analyze production metrics and KPIs to identify trends and areas for improvement.
    • Ensure data accuracy and integrity within planning systems.
  • Process Improvement
    • Identify and implement process enhancements to improve planning efficiency and accuracy.
    • Lead initiatives to reduce waste, improve lead times, and enhance service levels.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in production planning within a manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP ERP/MRP systems
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP) is a plus.
  • Office and manufacturing floor environment.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to meet production needs.
