Job Overview
The Buyer II is responsible for managing purchasing activities for assigned commodities within our connector manufacturing operations. This role ensures material availability, optimizes cost and lead time, and drives supplier performance improvements. The Buyer II collaborates cross-functionally to support sourcing strategies, lead negotiations, and contribute to process improvement initiatives. Strong knowledge of purchasing principles, MRP systems, and supplier management is essential.
A Day In The Life
· Execute purchase order placement, confirmation, and timely updates.
· Monitor supplier performance to ensure on-time delivery; expedite as needed.
· Serve as subject matter expert for assigned commodities and related systems.
· Partner with internal teams to review priorities and provide status updates.
· Conduct regular supplier meetings to review metrics and corrective actions.
· Resolve supplier quality and payment issues in collaboration with internal teams.
· Support onboarding and qualification of new suppliers.
· Collaborate with sourcing and commodity managers to implement sourcing initiatives.
· Drive process improvements to simplify workflows and enhance efficiency.
· Mentor junior purchasing staff and provide coverage for team members as needed.
· Ensure compliance with company policies, standards, and requirements.
· Contribute to risk management and escalation strategies for global supply chain disruptions.
What will help you thrive in this role?
Required Skills & Experience
· Minimum 5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
· Familiarity with engineering drawings and terminology.
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Word, Outlook).
· Strong experience with MRP/ERP systems.
· Excellent communication and presentation skills.
· Proven ability to analyze and resolve problems independently.
· Ability to work collaboratively or autonomously; self-starter mindset.
· Willingness to travel as required.
Preferred Qualifications
· SAP experience strongly preferred.
· APICS/ASCM or related purchasing certification.
· Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent.
