Job Overview
Systems Control is looking for a Senior P&C Designer to become a part of our Integrated Substation Solutions team. As a member of our Engineering Services Team, you will help create drawing packages for our utility customers. As a Senior P&C Designer, you will apply your technical and functional knowledge in the creation of drawings such as one-lines, schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams and cable schedules. You will also support other design tasks during peak load times. A Day In The Life
Yellow-line schematics, one-lines, and front view layouts to match scoping documents to ensure drawing quality
Create cable lists and connection drawings for field equipment from given schematics
Create project specific schematic drawings from generic customer standard schematic drawings
Create project specific basic to intermediate one-line diagrams from generic customer standard one-line diagrams
Revise existing customer schematic and one-line diagrams for retrofit of new equipment
Create demolition drawings
Manage status of project completion (% complete) and update associated documents
Calculate voltage drop with associated cables/wires
Ability to check client provided field as-built drawings (FMP’s) and make required changes
Specify P&C material for projects & BOM creation
Assist in the creation of scoping & estimating documents
Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with other OEC firms and clients associated with on-going projects
Ability to respond and guide the field construction crews through questions pertaining to on-going projects
Assist in training junior level P&C Designers
What will help you thrive in this role?
Experience & Education:
- Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent
- Comprehensive direct technical experience in a similar field
Required Skills:
- Comprehensive knowledge of reading electrical drawings
- Comprehensive knowledge of MS office suite
- Comprehensive knowledge of electrical circuits
- Ability to create one-line diagrams using scoping documents
- Ability to create schematic diagrams from scratch using one-line diagrams and scoping documents
- Ability to build cable schedules from wiring diagrams
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Ability to multitask given projects based on deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively with other OEC firms and clients
Preferred Skills:
- Working knowledge of CAD software to include AutoCAD, MicroStation
- Extensive knowledge of protection & control principles in the power industry
- Knowledge of markup up drawings using pdf editing software (Bluebeam, Adobe, etc.)
