Job Overview

Our Engineering Services team is continuing to grow resulting in a need to add a Project Manager.  As a Project Manager, you will effectively manage multiple projects along with providing extraordinary customer service to our clients by providing frequent, specific updates regarding the current state of the projects.  You will be required to communicate and coordinate among different disciplines of engineers and team members working together on a project as well as prepare reports as required for customers and management regarding the status of a project.  You will ultimately be accountable for assigned projects from concept to completion; effectively managing to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

A Day In The Life

  • Technical ability to interpret customer specifications to ensure the engineering design complies
  • Apply modern project management tools and techniques to maintain engineering project schedules within the associated project budget
  • Utilize all PM tools and spreadsheets dictated by our clients
  • Facilitate and lead detailed project meetings (kickoff, closeout, weekly updates) with the customer along with internal engineering and design teams
  • Manage the project scope and recognize the need for a project change order and work with estimating to develop
  • Recognize a need for and champion areas for process improvements
  • Identify risk areas and develop contingency plans to eliminate or mitigate risk that could result in schedule delays or failure to meet specification or design plan requirements
  • Responsible for managing various size projects and complexity
  • Assist as appropriate in the development of project estimates
  • Ensure work is completed efficiently and satisfactorily
  • Mentor others in project management processes, tools, and interpersonal skills to ensure successful project completion
  • Work safely in and around energized substations
  • Manage the pipeline of new opportunities from receipt of a customer request for quote
  • Customer visits (travel approximately 10% of the time)

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Minimum of seven years of proven project management experience with Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field, or ten years of proven project management experience with Associate Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field
  • Understanding of electrical substation design, engineering, and construction
