Duties and Responsibilities


  • Read and interpret engineering specifications to determine proper application of HCS products.  Select products to maximize customer value and increase the acceptance and specification of HCS products.
  • Create Bill of Material and List Price quotations primarily for Lighting Control systems and other complex projects.
  • Produce shop drawings for projects showing the location and quantity of parts that will be required for that specific project. A Bill of Material and List Price Quote is generated from these shop drawings.
  • Support and answer questions from end users, installers, and sales agents arising from the use and application of our products.
  • Provide market feedback to the New Product Development process and assist in the testing of new products against design specifications.
  • Maintain product cross reference to competitive products.
  • Maintain bid specifications for all current products.
  • Maintain CAD tool kit for electronic layouts. Perform job take-offs for estimating purposes.
  • Customer contact via telephone and written correspondence to resolve application, layout and troubleshooting issues.
  • Audit and review work from team members to ensure accuracy.
  • Provide pre-sales technical support to external customers during the quotation process.
  • Handle escalated customer concerns and communicate problems to the other managers in the business.
  • Maintain good customer relations at all times.  Provide reliable and prompt communications to and from agents and distributors.  Must be able to analyze and evaluate problems that arise, and solve or get the answers expeditiously and thoroughly.
  • Create and modify concurrent connection diagrams (One-Lines) based off controls layouts and Engineer specifications for submittals and customer requests.
  • Assist HCS Engineers and Product Management to create wiring diagrams for new product development and Marketing literature.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.  Assist in other functions, projects, reporting etc. as required. 

Skills and Experience


  • Associate or Bachelors degree in electrical engineering with 1-5 years experience in applications / drafting work OR High School with additional technical training (basic drafting / electrical).
  • Associates Degree in AutoCAD preferred.
  • 2+ years industry experience, which includes drafting and electrical systems.
  • Must be technically adept with excellent communication skills (both written and oral).
