Position Overview

The Senior Graphic Designer is responsible for concepting and design execution across various Progress Lighting brand marketing channels including digital and print collateral, retail, social, and more—creating elevated, engaging and cohesive visual brand experiences. The ideal candidate is strategic with the ability to see the big picture but also has a discerning eye for craft and detail. This role also assists with managing more junior designers to ensure that all design work submitted by the graphic team is consistent with brand standards while reaching the goal of each creative brief.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conceptualize with and take direction from the Director of Marketing Communication to push projects forward. 
  • Including collaborating closely with others in the Creative team as well as other key marketing & sales channel leads to ensure cross-functional and strategic implementation of the Progress Lighting brand.
  • Maintain the highest brand standards and help evolve brand guidelines as we continue to grow into new markets.
  • Design and deliver innovative visual executions that support corporate branding and business goals across all relevant media including digital/print advertising, direct mail, social media, in-store presentations, environmental graphics, email, packaging, display/motion graphics, title graphics, corporate collateral, etc.
  • Responsible for on-site approval, proofread and quality check from printing company.
  • Setting an example of leadership on the team while helping to mentor and inspire junior designers.
  • Maintaining brand and typographic consistency across materials and brand channels.
  • May arrange meetings and conferences, schedule appointments, and complete travel or conference arrangements; may perform administrative duties specific to department such as, conducting research, update databases, etc. 
  • Interfaces with sales and product development professionals, marketing assistants, and third-party resources regarding marketing and client requirements.
  • Coordinates multiple client projects by meeting that may include communicating with sales professionals and clients and approving and closing out task specifications and tracking results.
Skills and Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Graphic/Communication Design or related field of study.
  • 5+ years of graphic design experience with branding background. Agency experience a plus.
  • 2+ years of successful experience leading a team of designers.
  • A dynamic portfolio showcasing highly refined sensibilities across many mediums—with expert knowledge of identity systems, typography, grids, layout and print design.
  • Strong presentation skills with ability to clearly and persuasively articulate ideas.
  • Experience with print production and knowledgeable about innovative materials, paper, printing and production processes.
  • Excited by a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment—able to tackle competing priorities under tight timelines with the flexibility to pivot when necessary.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to accept creative direction and critique with a professional attitude.
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Suite; specifically Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign (AfterEffects a plus).
  • Successful experience presenting design work.
  • Familiarity with general file preparations, printing practices, PMS and 4 color press.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
