Position Overview

The Engineering Manager of International Product will collaborate across all Commercial & Industrial lighting brands to design, qualify, and seek continuous improvement of product sourced internationally. The position will be responsible for building and leading an international Engineering team, based in China, to assist in these efforts. He/She will also establish, document, and ensure adherence to engineering standard processes and procedures.  The role will closely engage with internal stakeholders across Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain, in addition to external vendors.

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Create, develop, and lead international team of engineers to support design, qualification, and continuous improvement of internationally sourced product
  • Engage with internal cross-functional team to establish best practices; initiate changes to address gaps and mitigate risk
  • Seek new/expanded knowledge on all product types within commercial & industrial brands to support brand engineering teams with design and qualification of NPD products
  • Recurring report-outs to Leadership team 

Processes & procedures

  • Create and document standard procedures for items including but not limited to:
    • Engineering/design specifications
    • Testing protocols performed across multiple testing sites
    • Part drawings
    • Document control
    • Production specification

Product testing

  • Identify and qualify overseas testing labs to conduct photometric, thermal, and other related tests for product to improve speed to market
  • Integrate reliability testing procedures and testing records performed overseas with U.S. labs
  • Create and track annual testing budget for all international product

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Engineering required 
  • 5+ years’ experience as Engineer in lighting industry required
  • Proficiency in various CAD packages including AutoCAD, Solid Edge or other solid modeling software
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of SAP, Quality systems, processes, and requirements
  • Flexibility working with various project teams globally, spanning different time zones
