Job Overview

The Delivery Manager, IT Engineering Systems & Solutions Delivery will lead and oversee the Engineering Technology Team, ensuring the successful delivery, support, and evolution of engineering business applications and platforms. This role is responsible for architectural planning, technical oversight, sprint and delivery management, and team leadership. The engineering technology landscape encompasses a diverse array of enterprise engineering applications, employee-facing platforms, internal tools, and integrated cloud-based services designed to enhance productivity, innovation, and engineering operations. These technologies include CAD software, PLM systems, IoT platforms, and similar engineering solutions.

A Day In The Life

Key Responsibilities

1. Solution Architecture

  • Drive architectural planning and document architectural decisions for engineering systems.
  • Refine features and stories, ensuring engineering solutions meet internal and vendor guidelines.
  • Create and maintain architectural diagrams and decision records for engineering platforms.
  • Coordinate with engineering product owners, delivery managers, and project managers on engineering projects.
  • Oversee API management, integration design, and technical standards for engineering applications.

2. Delivery & Sprint Management

  • Validate monthly sprint plans with engineering product owners; ensure resource capacity for engineering projects.
  • Monitor sprint progress, unblock engineering development teams, and escalate delivery risks.
  • Approve readiness for releases and coordinate release management (e.g., Azure DevOps) for engineering systems.
  • Oversee build and release pipelines, ensuring code integrity and timely delivery of engineering solutions.

3. Technical Oversight

  • Conduct code reviews and provide technical oversight for engineering application development.
  • Manage cloud resources, security assignments, database administration, and certificate management for engineering platforms.
  • Oversee legacy engineering application support, including dependency and vulnerability updates.
  • Oversee application rationalization, sunset planning, and transition of ownership for engineering systems as needed.
  • Ensure environment setup and infrastructure stability across dev, QA, and production for engineering applications.
  • Ensure compliance with internal engineering policies and external regulations (e.g., data privacy, industry standards).
  • Coordinate cyber reviews and user access reviews for engineering systems as required.

4. Team Leadership & People Management

  • Facilitate team growth and development, including intern and rotation programs within engineering technology.
  • Set cross-team standards and drive process improvements for engineering delivery.
  • Grow skills and capabilities of the engineering technology team.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in providing IT application architecture, design, and delivery for engineering or business applications, including cloud-native technologies and engineering platforms.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies, sprint planning, and delivery management for engineering projects.
  • Familiarity with legacy engineering application support, API management, and security best practices for engineering data.
  • Leadership experience with cross-functional teams and vendor coordination in engineering technology.
